Database systems
Database-driven information systems form the main focus of the work at i2dm. The solutions are mainly developed on a Oracle-, MySQL- and Access basis. These easily administered database solutions are particularly suited for complex online proposals, which along with the corresponding XML/ XSLT layers, allow for their expansion in profitable E-commerce applications and the distrubution to mobile end devices “on the fly”.
Content Management (CMS)
A solid content management system makes a clear divide between content, layout and functionality and is therefore able to realise media-neutral data management. On this basis, the information may be specified through various media via the CMS as well as being processed and displayed. i2dm offers CMS-Know-how in the following areas:NPS
Our Berlin partner’s Enterprise Content Management System, NPS, distinguishes itself through its vast functionality and very affordable starting prices. The i2dm developed Intranets from the central and north Bremen clinics are based on NPS.SixCMS
In choosing a CMS, the city of Bremen decided on using SixCMS. The learning portal as well as the website for waste disposal operations in Bremen are examples of SixCMS deployment and i2dm-Know-how.i2_cms
Our self-developed web-based redaction system, i2_cms, is available to web sites from all fields.KOM-iT
The house internal KOM-iT is available to communal database orientated information fields. This can interact with our partners Content Management System, NPS, over an open interface.
Mobile Applications
ÖPNV mobile
The WAP-Portal to the KOM-iT-System’s ÖPNV data at the beginning of 2000 was one of i2dm’s first mobile applications. With the aid of this interface, every WAP user is able to search for the current tram or bus connections (see bremen.de: http://www.bremen.de/wap/bsag.wml).CiNaMo
By order of Bremen senators for construction and environment, i2dm, along with the communication agent „brasilhaus” have produced a concept study concerning the deployment of mobile services in the City of Bremen. The first IEEE802.11 based prototypes were presented at the “wireless Wednesday” in November 2001. Services that are currently being developed are being shifted to the UMTS platform due to Telecom’s appointment of Bremen as the UMTS test city.HOTELdirect | WAP
Besides using conventional web browsers, the hotel information and reservation system HOTELdirect, also provides a WAP interface that allows a request through mobile end devices. Along with the introduction of UMTS, this new technique will also be supported.Location Based Services (LBS)
Within the scopes of its diverse projects, i2dm has been able to gather considerable experience in the development of LBS for mobile end devices. The new jurisdiction from LBS that the information can only be sent following the corresponding release, has both economic and strategic effects. These juristic conditions are taken into account by i2dm through the intergration of an Opt-in-Listen.
Virtual agents
i2dm further enhances the user-friendly management status of its online systems due to its development of virtual agents. Through their manlike behaviour, these virtual figures aid the users in communicating and interacting with the system. Each of the various application fields include:
- Customer service (CRM)
- Knowledge Management
- E-Learning und E-Business
Evaluation & Usability Testing
We apply software technological and ergonomic analysis methods as well as a catalogue of evaluation criteria that have been tested and approved by over 2000 users and several hundred applications. The goal of this usability-testing procedure is to realise optimal usability of the online system for the user. Additionally, there are various audit forms as well as evaluation procedures available that consider the following criteria:
Web-specific features such as content structure, navigation, design aspects, performance, compatibilty, etc.
